PasteMagazine.com premiered Vandaveer’s new video, “The Nature of Our Kind,” today. Watch it HERE. The song is taken from the forthcoming album Dig Down Deep, out April 26 on Supply & Demand Music. Vandaveer are also happy to announce the first leg of their US Spring Tour with Ferraby Lionheart, which kicks off May 1st in Philadelphia. Full dates listed below.
Longtime Vandaveer collaborators Pierre Dejon and Just Philippot flew from Paris to NYC to direct the video, which follows Mark Charles Heidinger and Rose Guerin on their January 2011 US tour. The crew follows the duo around Brooklyn and Philadelphia for the “documentary” style aspect of the video. Live footage was captured from shows at Southpaw and Johnny Brenda’s. One very special apartment in Red Hook, Brooklyn served as home base, with gratuitous Bloody Marys supplied by The Hope & Anchor. Most importantly, the many lovely hats came from Rose’s impressive personal collection.
Vandaveer is the song-singing, record-making, globetrotting project penned and put forth by alt-folk tunesmith Mark Charles Heidinger. Vandaveer offers up melodic Americana with a revolving cast of characters, most prominent among them Rose Guerin, singing the loveliest harmonies heard this side of Eden.
Heidinger and Guerin met during the heyday of DC’s folk collective known as The Federal Reserve. Informal collaborations in that environment soon galvanized, with Guerin’s voice becoming a reliable fixture in Vandaveer, both on record and on stage.
Vandaveer’s third full length, Dig Down Deep, offers a collage of churning rhythms, steady guitar and ringing piano beneath tales of war and impermanence, loss and love. The music serves as both mirror and platform for Vandaveer’s stories—booming bass drum during moments of turmoil and conquest, throaty cello in moments of peace and predation, trembling keys in moments of uncertainty and hope. Out of the mosaic rise two voices in perfect harmony narrating and navigating the lives of Vandaveer’s characters with confidence and grace.

Near the beginning of the ‘Exodus of America’ tour, WRETCHED have debuted the video for “My Carrion.” WRETCHED may have begun as a jam band in 2005, but Steven Funderburk (guitar) and Marshall Wieczorek (drums) knew the first time that they played together there was a strong connection. Throughout the past few years, the band has progressed in awareness of music theory and composition, allowing them to create distinctive, quality music. “We always make sure our songs and music are structured very well and are carefully thought out,” states Funderburk, “we put feeling and soul into our music.”
This is no more evident than in their new video for “My Carrion.” The band brings vicious guitar solos, masterfully crafted drumming, and commanding vocals to the desert - allowing nothing but the ripping musicianship to shine. WRETCHED’s Beyond The Gate is available on Victory Records.

ZEROKING RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE, "STONE COLD BITCH"
(17 March, 2011 - Huntington, WV) On the rise hard rock act Zeroking have just released their debut single, "Stone Cold Bitch" (b/w ""Girls Of California") digitally on Wednesday, 16 March through newly formed Vanity Music Group.
One of the top drawing bands in the Mid Atlantic region, the Huntington, WV based quartet has shared the stage with Bobaflex, Nonpoint and Saving Abel, amongst others. Rock Addict Radio voters chose Zeroking "Top Metal Band of 2010" even though the band didn't even have any current product on the shelves yet.
Culled from the band's upcoming sophomore album, Kings Of Self Destruction, "Stone Cold Bitch" was produced by the band and Steve Riley and is a raucous blast of energy, politically incorrect and controversial, with a chorus that has quickly become a sing-along fan favorite. "Girls of California" is instantly infectious featuring Slipknot style heaviness and Beach Boys influenced harmonies, that attempts to quantify at least one way you know are "bound for stardom", but you'll have to listen to the lyrics to find out for yourself.
"We've been working and perfecting these tunes since right after we played Rocklahoma 2009 and it feels great for people to finally get to hear this record." vocalist Andy Haught states. "While I dont think these encompass the entire scope of the 13 songs on KOSD, I do feel these two songs are a great introduction to our energy and vibe, and I cant wait for people to hear the rest of the record when we finalize our release details."
The single is available from iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, eMusic and other legal download sites.

Duo is the New Band from the Horrors Frontman Faris Badwan
and Classical Musician Rachel Zeffira
Click HERE to Hear the Cat’s Eyes Track “Not A Friend”
As the frontman for British psychedelic-rockers the Horrors, Faris Badwanand his bandmates took a major stylistic leap between the band’s first and second albums, essentially reinventing themselves in the process. In the same spirit, Badwan has transformed himself creatively once again with his new duo, Cat’s Eyes. The project is a partnership between him and Rachel Zeffira, a Canadian opera soprano and classical multi-instrumentalist based in London.
The group’s first ever live appearance took place in December, amid some secrecy, at St Peter’s in the Vatican, where they performed a reworked version of their song “I Knew It Was Over” during an afternoon mass attended by several high-ranking cardinals. Footage from this can be viewed at www.catseyesmusic.com. Continuing to make each of their live shows a truly special experience, Cat’s Eyes have decided to do only three US dates – so don’t miss them if you’re in the area!
In the collision of the two very separate worlds of Badwan and Zeffira, something magical has come into being. Cat’s Eyes eponymous debut album (May 3rd; Cooperative Music USA/Downtown Records) is a romantic pop masterpiece fit to dine at the same table as mid-’60s productions by Phil Spector, Joe Meek or Shadow Morton, but with a fiercely modern, experimental premise, which constantly leaves you wondering just what you’re listening to, and how on earth it was created.
The duo’s album was recorded at RealWorld studios near Bath with producer Steve Osborne. All Cat’s Eyes artwork is designed and photographed by Chris Cunningham, director of iconic videos for Aphex Twin (“Windowlicker”; “Come to Daddy”
and Bjork (“All is Full of Love.”![]()
Cat’s Eyes Tour Dates:
05/03: New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
05/06: Los Angeles, CA @ Natural History Museum
05/07: San Francisco, CA @ The Independent
